I would be interested in how to do this TBH. I think the cable is the problem - VHS is analog and pc connections are digital. I think you can get cables that convert but are expensive.What’s the best way to convert VHS tapes to digital format so I can put them on a hard drive. I have a video recorder but I haven’t purchased a lead that plugs into my laptop yet or any software.

Going to buy usb video capture card as you suggested. So I can transfer the footage onto my laptop edit it and then transfer it onto a hard drive. Thanks for all your suggestions lads.
