I've had a similar experience, in my case I changed the 500s for another one from ebay, and it started working fine after that, and still is. (Mine started to play up out of the blue too)

I just assumed the tuner had gone dodgy.

thanks dazza for your in put It is pouring with rain now( not a good sign for signal strength normally) but the picture on 11222/27500 and all other frequecies is ok it seems to be up and down day to day

I connected a sky official box this afternoon and the same channels are glitching I have ruled out the LNB ( replaced) the cable (tested with a shorter better quality cable) , re-aligned the dish slightly adjusted the skew of the lnb all to no avail the glitching starts and stops at random sometimes it is unwatchable sometimes just annoying

all channel were ok just a couple of months ago
