cards goes off

my card went off this morning so i took it to my mates and happily typed in the codes when i got home i put the card in and WOW there was a black screen??????the subtitles were on and there was no message saying YOU DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS CHANNEL??????

any ideas
