Bad Quality Picture!!

Hi all,
The mate has just bought the panasonic TH-42PX700B VIERA plasma tv.
The picture quality is rubbish.
He has got it connected to his starview THE BOX using 3 x phono cable.
So I gave him a gold scart to see if it would help, but no joy.Still back shadow.
My other mate has got the samsung at half the price and has a far better quality picture,he is even using the starview.
Is their anything he can do to get a better picture?

If thats the connection you are using scart will be worse but I would still check it out.

I tried a Starview box on my LCD and the picture was pretty poor compared to Freeview and Dreambox.

1) I think the problem is your source connection. You could trying improving your signal connection using a signal booster.
2) Try a basic calibration (see stickies in this section)
3) Use an external scaler to send your TV the correct video info
4) Upgrade to HD TV (Way too expense for the nonsense that is broadcast IMO)

The problem is that TV broadcast is something like like 720x576 and you TV is 1920x1080. Thats what 4 times more pixels than you need for watching TV content. Your TV is having to make up a lot of info that is not there, hence the poor quality of TV.

Playback some HD content and the picture should blow you away.

I phoned the shop for my mate. And they are sending a tech guy with a laptop to come and set up the tv.
Seamingly this is a common problem with this new tv.They are gong to set it up with a DVE disc.
I think thats what they said it was.
