Hi all read in tutorial that if you use a splitter that says 3.5db on it then it is aa attenuator and this this decreases signal. My feed coming in says this but the splitter i have put on doesnt does this still mean that i am loosing signal strength any help much appreciated.

if it says it mate it will reduce it...but a splitter will not...do you mean the annuater is on the cable feed(wire) that comes into the house and then you have a splitter? if so take off annuater and see if signal strength goes up..

If your signal is too strong you can use an attenuator to clip it down to a better strength for the item of equipment. As you have read an attenuator will say something like 3.5dB on it.

A splitter will say nothing on it and shouldnt be confused with an attenuator.

If you want to split the signal my advice is use a splitter.

If your signal is too strong then use an attenuator.

thanks for replies will take off attenuater and see if signal improves thanks for advice...
