Try AVG as it is free and Kapersky is also good but not free though, it may be in certain places though.

Hi Mate u have a few good 1`s to choose from , i Use Avast Pro , as it takes little Sytem resoures , other good 1s include Nod 32 , Bit Defender , Kaperski (as Jaffa has Mentioned ), id stay away from norton and McAffe as these kill ur system resourses , if want pm me and i will send u 1 mate , after i finish work around 5.30 ish , u should also be looking for some good spy/adware removers also ,
regards biffo

Eset's NOD32 for me. Decent AV, and light on resources too. Not free though, unless you know where to look! ;) Or about £23 IIRC if you pay for it.

I've been using it for a few years or so now, never, ever, had any problems, and I visit a few shady places! Mind you, Opera helps in that department too... Much more secure than IE <Spit> :)

I have used AVG for a few years now and had no problems. I used to use Norton but found it didnt like a few other progs I used so a complete waste of money.

Avast home edition for me. FREE and powerfull. covers e-mail , browsing P2P software and realtime scanning.

Hi M8.
For Anti virus I use ESET's NOD32. It is small and u wont notice it on ure machine until download a virus that is.

U can use Norton Anti Virus. Few can deny it the best or one of the best AV Progs but it'll make ure CORE2 QX6700 run like a 286.
NOD32 has caught any virus's coming in to my pc. (I check my system disk every little while on my Bro-In-Law's machine with Norton360)
For Spyware I use a combination of Windows Defender, Ad-Aware and Spybot. They catch most if not all of them.
