Andromeda V1 Image Feedback

@bren: Try turning Fast Scan to OFF, then select 6952 area (if you are TW) or 6887 for ntl / exC&W and try a scan that way.

But honestly, why are you guys having to Scan on a new image anyway? Haven't you backed-up your previous services and bouquets to pc, ready to ftp across? It's a 2 minute job. You're making life very difficult for yourselves, you know...

Bon are you using the sagem 2x image just wandered if it was a problem with that one.

Sagem x1 still can get it scan taking an age what ever I do

I don't normally say much on here but I thought I would give you my experiences with the latest image.


I applied the image via FTP and tried to install via the menu's. This crashed so I had to use the flash assistant with a crossover. This worked fine and got me up and running.

I didn't perform any backups as I always like to do a fresh scans. I've had my Dbox for nearly 2 years and stuck to the Digital Worldz image which has always worked fine.

The scan took over an hour with fast scan off. Several times it looked like it had stopped completely during scanning but I just left it.

Everything seems to be okay with all channels loaded.

Occasionally the box has slowed up and I've had to reboot it but apart from that everything seems to be okay.

Simply wonderful image again xenafan! Great work!

One minor bug that I managed to find. The "Time Syncronisation" under the Network menu was still set to a German address. I've set it to what it was in the Final Blade image. (uk.pool.ntp.org)

Tried this m8 didnt work. Havn't tried backing stuff up yet though will give it a go, tbh i am still fairly new to the dbox and i have been concentrating on getting my nas recordings perfected.
What happens if i need to channel scan new channels though ? Surely without the scanning option i am stuck.

Not totally stuck, m8. You put out a polite request in the correct forum for help with a current services file for your location. Some nice person is bound to help you out.

You then ftp that file (services.xml) to /var/tuxbox/config/zapit/ overwriting the one already in there, then Reload Channel Lists in the Service menu. And Bob's your cross-dressing Auntie!!

Then you start organising your Bouquets and backing these files up.

AL I am new to this but had a friend who sent me the services.xml once copied and rebooted worked a treat..

Right- let's get back on topic, feedback for xenafan Andromeda 1.20

Xenafan- I forgot to mention the Image Backup / Flash menu from Services. This still takes you to the 'old' Expert big menu, where you then have to press Red to go to the actual Backup / Flash sub-menu.

The latest crop of images on the block shortcut this quite neatly, by taking you directly from the Service menu to the Image Backup / Flash menu that just has 2 items:

Yellow button: Backup one partition
Blue button: Flash one partition

It's much quicker. A similar unnecessary sub-menu exists under the Blue button for the Set My Location feature, where you have to then press Red. Have a look...

I downloaded both Sagem images for my parents house, they have both types (1x & 2x) both locked up after setting location and attempting to scan. It's all well and good knowing how to get round the problem, but the problem remains, surely that's the point of the feedback thread, fixing problems and not working around them.

Right, i used a commando image did a scan then nicked all the info and ftp'd it to the andromeda image and it works a treat. Once again Big thanks to xenafan for another top notch image really appreciate all the hard work, and thanks everyone else who helped out with the scanning prob its not a solution but it worked.
I've no doubt the scanning prob will get sorted anyway really soon.

testing img everything seem ok but when selecting the upnp browser (error no channels were found) measag is displayedand if you go into services to do a scan setting are changed to Astra 19.2E Diseqc.
pull power and all is ok again.
will let you know of any thing els but i think it was this that made img read only as i set every thing up did a scan, restarted neutrino.and then had a go at upnp browser,

still have this probleme when i select upnp browser no big deal i dont use it any way but thought you should know i just hid it from view via the aiw menu. using nokia img

Sorry for the trouble you have had m8 cant understand whats a miss?
Image was done on a sagem 1x and converted to a sagem 2x then flashed to a nokia and converted for nokia.
Sagem 1x Fast scans in 2.35 mins and slow scan 38 mins around the same on the nokia have scanned over 30 times has not failed once have others try in my area no problems this is weird even re-flashed original and that scans ok to.

I will take another look at the weekend and see if i can figure out whats going on.

You owe me no appologies mate at all ,as i said i am very grateful to guys like yourself for the work you put into creating these images. I am sure the scanning problem is only small and will sort itself out, also due to this problem i have now learnt how to backup my own channel lists etc, so its all good " every cloud" hopefully with time i will learn enough to actually help with probs like this and not just leave whiney threads.

Flashed onto a sagem 1x out of curiosity for a friend, instead of putting sportster back on it as their box had gone wrong after (i suspect) their kids messing with some settings. Tested for a few days just for general viewing... seamless!

Nice image. I look forward to toying with some of the more advanced features on my own box when I get a chance

Thanks for the feedback m8 its a fault in the original code from germany they are working on selectable user channel start found in dbox menu couldnt get it to work myself should be fixed in their next release as is starts up with first channel in bouquet list.
Strange thing is a lot of my m8s like it that way no more of forgetting to reset the channel at shut down starts up on a free to air so whoever starts the box up doesnt see they have been watching the porn the night before. He! He!
