Andromeda V1 Image Feedback

This is an issue. I had a few "broken" boxes where I am certain people were messing with settings when pissed, or something. This image allows you to make these invisible or pin coded so people cannot mess with them. I expect this is why commerical subbed boxes/images are so crap, to stop callouts when johnny comes home pissed and trys to get free porn and screws the box.

Another great feature, carried on from the later blades is that the key binding setup allows the coloured buttons to be reasigned. So my red goes straight to the main event guide/overview. green is teletext, yellow is current channel guide and blue is timer events. Stops having to do the old 2 press to get menus.

Has anybody else found features that may not be obvious like this?

I had it on my sagem 2x all last night, this still blacked out on the final blade (dublin ntl). It blacked out for about half a second once, but that was soon after menu/settings changes which often triggers a flicker. It was on for several hours wihtout a flicker so is looking good. I will put it on a mates 1x today.

Also I set my area to dublin and tried a scan just to test it. worked perfectly first time. I was surprised at this, and how fast it was. What is going on in the background with this? NTL changed some frequencies recently, if they did again would this somehow detect it? It found all the transponders immediately, as though the cables file only had the 13 it needed. I used UK scanning. It also got the correct frequencies. e.g. 3395 rather than just going with 339 which some scans might do.

I also have a dreambox now and the only small detail I like on its neutrino image is that when I press for info, i.e. the programs EPG that it comes up in a large font or small font depending on what it was last viewed at. i.e. on all dbox images I have to press the button once to bring it up, and once again enlarge the text. While on dreambox you press once. Dunno if this can be easily changed, not a big deal but nice.

I had it turned onto the FTA channel, TV3, that used to freeze on blade, mornings was always worst. It had no freeze, not a bother on it.

Last night I came home and around 7.30 it was showing a program on TV3 whose epg was on screen. But when I checked the event guide there was no epgs. And the current channel then lost its ones. I noticed this on my blade final on a nokia too.

When I press the blue button it would show "show epg off" and if I turned it on and went back it would not appear. THis method did work after a few trys once on blade final. But on andromeda it wouldnt happen. On andromeda I had actually removed the epg on/off option from the blue menu altogether. I turned it back on and it was set to off, and I could select on but it would not stay on. i.e. when you go back to tv and press blue again it shows as off.

A reset fixes this every time no problems. Box had been on over 24hrs, dunno if one of the longer timed settings might be affecting it. Only happened maybe 4-5 times on blade final, and my boxes are usually off at night, so I think it could be time related.

I'm still getting the EPG problems with the "newer" images. I get only EPG for half the day, and even then I only get full details for a few hours, then it says "No detailed information available" for the rest of the day. Refreshing the EPG doesn't really fix the problem.

You can change the epg cache by going to dbox...settings...miscellaneous long description is currently set to 7 change it to longer & you should get detailed descriptions for most of the day.

I noticed these settings seemed short. I left all those settings alone as I thought it may effect performance, i.e. going too many hours ahead might fill memory space or something, and alter other functions.

Just ended up on those settings as it stopped gaps in the epg for me no problem with altering to suit your area if you want to see how much memory used by your settings press dbox goto service and then system information now shows memory use and image space.

i really love this image...but i have to agree...the newer images have a real epg problem for me also.......epg restart works though..which i need to do most days !!!!

What is a reasonable number to use for the EPG Cache? I really hope it fixes the problem. The issue is sometimes some Channels only resort to showing "Now and Next" only fixing after an EPG Restart. This is in addition to the EPG not showing detailed information. I will try that fix, but what is a reasonable number that won't take up too much memory and still allow me to do the vital tasks like make backups of my image.

xenafan: I was wondering if it would be possible to add "EPG Restart" back into the Blue Button menu as opposed to the Andromeda Menu (like it was in Blade Trinity) as it seems to run a lot faster from Blue Menu.

I have a Sagam X1 have lots of issues with chriping and lost of picture I have tried all the blade versions and still getting the problem. I then move to Andromeda ver 1.2 and was a lot better but still the odd chirp. I then installed Andromeda 1.3 and its fantastic No chirping or lost of picture just a great picture been running over a week now.
