what about any of the capacitors.are any domed looking

Had a look at them they looked ok

capacitors are they easy to check if blown or not

"Blown capacitors"- you can normally see the tops of sick capacitors bulging, or 'domed', it's usually obvious once you see them compared to other healthy ones. Having said that, not all sick cap's exhibit this. When you say you chacked the power board with a multimeter, did you check the various rails for voltages- i.e. 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 30-something? (The nominal voltages are usually/hopefully labelled next to the pins on the long power supply plug, though I am not familiar with this particular receiver). If none of the outpts are present, listen for a very quiet ticking, being careful not to get a shock on your ear- it hurts!!.
