Hi everyone I have managed to get hold of a box

Now what I need to know is can I flash this box with the firmware in the download section it the DWimg I think can I use this as I have read that some firmware won't work as it will know that it a clone

Best to use the commando image, clone friendly and still supported.

How did you get on with MGCAMD ?
I am stuck with the config of this installed on a 500C with Open PLI image.
Can get CCCAM to work but it freezes and advised to use MGCAND

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as a DM500C 'clone' box.

For testing and educational purposes, CCcam 2.2.1 is 100% stable in C15.0d

Avoid later versions of CCcam, as urban myth suggests they have back door access for the low-life and bottom-feeders in E.Europe to piggy-back your share (hence the freezing issue?)

mgcamd 1.35a tests fine here on C15.0d - but can be tricky to set up initially.. Your /var/keys/mg.cfg file might have a one or two parameters incorrect? For example:

# network shares priority
# 00 gbox, newcamd, cccamd, radegast, camd3 (default)
# 01 camd3, radegast, cccamd, gbox, newcamd
# 02 cccamd, newcamd, camd3, gbox, radegast
P: { 02 }

and the box type:

# box type
# 00 autodetect (default)
# 02 dreambox
B: { 02 }

I hope this helps. oscam also tests sweetly on C15.0d on CCcam or newcamd protocol, but is even more of a bitch to implement than mgcamd, LOL!

This looks like useful info although I believe (need to check later) that I am on CCCAM 2.2.1 so the plot thickens.
I guess its subjective but I have been trying to stick to Open PLI on a few box's in order to learn how things work.
This commando one seems popular though, would you recommend changing ?
