i gave this modem to a friend who says he can do all the modems. got it back after about a month and it still dont work he says it cant be done, the only difference now is that i have to use the usb to connect as he has broke the rj45 connection. maybe his dodgy soldering.
can someone please help can this modem be done. i cant find anything on the forums about a 4101 modem.

here is the software version

Software Version: SB4100-0.4.5.0-SCM00-NOSH
Hardware Version: 4
MIB Version: II
GUI Version: 1.0
VxWorks Version: 5.3

if i try to use vxworks all i get is below. does this still work through usb????

Sending reset request...ok
Waiting for CM to boot...ok
Retrieving CM MAC address...ok (0004BD07****)
Sending NetBoot request...error

i know nothing is impossible so can someone please help
thanks in advance

You will have to use a 232/233 to modify the firmware on that modem.

what exactly is this cable ave seen drawings but not that technicaly minded
thanks

i tryed to connect that modem up m8 to black cat still no luck
owen you will have no chance

The 232/233 is available from TMC or jabsplace , if you are able to get access to the 192 page (which it seems you have) then you will be able to modify the modem .

@ Selki ...what build of blackcat were you using ?? Did you check the chip on the modem to see what kind it was ?? Does your blackcat cable work 100% ??

Regards

hi m8 the black cat works ok but all a was able to on that sb4101
was programmer not connected same by rs 232
nout

It`s hard for me to say then , the only reason i can think this doesn`t work is when soldering was done on the modem , the tracks or caps may have got damaged in the process.

some1 had been in the modem it looked like to me thay used a welder

Oh well , looks like you may have a nice paper-weight or doorstop.
