    Psychology

In this day and age there seems to be a lot of emphasis on psychology. My question is, do psychologists have any success on people with psychological problems through counseling alone, or do the have to resort to chemistry?

I'm bi-polar and have been on medication for as long as I can remember but I'm also under the care of a phycologist I see every 3-4 weeks aswell as a phycitrist . I ain't ashamed to admit I need my phycologist every bit as much as I need the fist full of meds I'm on

Mental health problems are very varied and quite misunderstood by many and can be very debilitating. If you are lucky enough to have a good GP they will refer you for proper professional treatment.

yes. though all they really do is allow those the see to come to terms, via talking, with the cause of your problems.

In some cases they can also help you circumnavigate the original cause of the problem, but often it can also be a case of just being able to talk to someone who may understand what you are going through and just be there for you without judgement. It is something so simple but because of the attitude of many can become a huge problem.

Having been though some minor phychological treatment myself I can say that it does help but it is also dependant on the person. A person needs to be willing enough to be helped for someone to actually help them. Drugs can only do so much in terms of chemical reactions and do have side effects which can often include tolerance to the drug itself over time.
