I have owned TM/Eagle/Spider/Openbox/DM linux and non linux versions etc

My favourite stb of all time is the TM1500, main reason is it was the first stb I ever owned other than the first sky amstrad/pace stb's when sky was free lol.

The user interface on the TM1500 was and still is excellent.
The patch support was and still is good.
It opened up a whole new world for me when I purchased a motorised TM1500 system.
I still have a TM1500 super in the cupboard along with many other stb's, but will always keep the TM1500 long after all the others are gone.

Whats your favourite stb and why.

This thread is not for posting on what stb's you have that are in your opinion are crap just the ones you loved and why.

I cant take part as Im new to Satellite but hope this turns into a popular thread as I would be intersted in what people from the early days have owned and liked too

Ive just googled TM1500 :)

i also have a TM1500 upstairs :), before that i had a TM5500CiP.

one of the receivers i had the most 'fun' with was a TM3500 when they first came out, i turned it into a fully functioning mp3 jukebox, complete with a socket to update the receiver (i think this, as well as the sly card fiasco at the same time on another forum, is what brought me to TMs attention)

my first linux receiver, i had a real life love/hate relationship with, i fkin hated the poxy nothing would work on it thing, but loved that fact that i had one when they were so 'specialist', in the end, i sold my first dm500 (before clones existed) for the same price i paid for it (about £170) and went back to normal receivers

i do know that the best remote ive ever had with a satellite receiver, was the one i had with my spiderbox 9000, now that was a wicked bit of kit, and if the 'sat' button could also be reprogrammed for different receivers, id probably buy them by the bucket, deffo on a par with my kameleon 4 in 1 touch screen

i dont think id be able to pick my 'best' as i never really 'use' any of them for what theyre intended to be used as, but, i do know that the ones that get the most abuse are my tm & dm 800 models

early next year i may buy a dm800se clone as they seem to be quite popular, i wont watch anything on it, but ill see if i can kill it lol

What was this Digi??

I would agree that the TM1500 was the most outstanding receiver I've owned. In its time it was far above anything available and the support was second to none. Yes the dreambox and dbox and so many other linux receivers were around but with the amount of free packages by emulation, the TM1500 was the ultimate due to its simplicity. I would also say a large part of the boom growth of interest of satellite tv in the uk was due to the huge success of the TM1500, so it is that reason I would put it at number 1 myself :)

The Dbox2 will always have a place in my heart.

I was busy fiddling around with Linux and a Technotrend 2.1 DVB card when I discovered that a team of German hobbyists had managed to run Linux on the box and it allowed softcams to run. I ditched the whole PC DVB setup and grabbed a Dbox2.

My first ever receiver was an ecostar 9000 I think it was which I used to use on the old type of motor before diseqc was around. I can't seem to remember the name of what its called. Then I brought a TM1500 which I used on the same setup using a vbox to control it before I ditched it for a diseqc setup.

I must admit Technomate 1500 is the best receiver I ever owned due to its simplicity and good support as stated.

Also had a Technomate 1500 but had my original DM800 for around 3 years now using the nabilosat image and not really had a days trouble apart from the odd CCcam config issues

The bit I treasure most is my Skystar II card as It was the first proper bit of equipment I got that I could open channels myself. Still remember the buzz of clearing Sky Italy for the first time.
The Tm1500 has to be the best receiver for its money. Card sharing make it all to easy now.

tm1500ci for me all the channels for free ,plenty of support ,softcams ,patches those were the days seems a million miles away now much much better than the card shareing route everyones gone these days

My fist foray into multi sat was the NEC 2022 with its partner 2025 positioner with matching dish and LNB, I later moved back to fixed on 19east with a pace 508, And then left it all together for around 10 years and finally decided on a Humax 5400 great receiver that one. All i can remember is my nec with installation cost nearly £2000 at the time boy how things have changed.
