Guide to install Rytec EPG Importer to VTI image

UnRar the rytek epg archive to PC

1. FTP all the extracted .ipk files to /tmp
2. Telnet to your receiver then enter each of the following commands: -

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

3. Exit telnet.
4. Unrar the rytek channel file and FTP to etc/epgimport
5. Reboot your TM800.
6. Press yellow button to open extensions list.
7. Select EPGImport an configure to suit your requirements.

Thats it!

as the tm800 image develops, itll probably be better to have the epg data stored on usb memory instead of in the etc folder, as this will slow the receiver down eventually, also, storing on usb rather than hard disk means silent redall od data

i left it updating the data when i went out last night, and it was on about 50k items, so will go and see how it did while i was gone :)

thanks to sicilian for the info and files, and fdlsys for raring them all together, just saved me doing it lol

@ digidude, can you check what happens if you reboot the receiver after epg import, does it need re-downloading or does it get saved? Sorry not got mine setup atm to test and I'd only tested with old image. If there's a HDD installed a EPG.DAT file should get saved into the root to save re-importing on reboot.

Also glad to see Technomate have restored the yellow button to bring up extensions, that's something I'd recommended they do. I'll have to find some time to play with the TM-800 again.

Hmmm, not working properly for me. Installed ok but 1 of the packs (think it might of been HTML) mentioned something about "incompatible recommendations" but didn't error the install. FTP'd xml file over to etc\epgimport and rebooted. When trying to configure, Yellow (Manual) says no active EPG sources - nothing to do, and Blue (Sources) is empty :(

Any idea guys?

Thanks

you will need to get the latest rytec sources xml and ftp it into etc/epgimport folder

edit ..just attached a copy

i had the same thing go to rytec.be website and download the following file

rytec.sources.xml.20100601.zip

unzip and put in the directory etc/epgimport and it should update the source for all of europe select Rytec UK XMLTV and off you go - mines just importing now i hope :proud:

Thanks guys, that's got it going. Only problem now is seeing what it's pulled in? I selected UK XMLTV and it pulled in over 3000 events. I have a CS to full SKY UK package and still nothing shows on any EPG I select.

By the way, the error if it means anything to anyone was:

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

while installing enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport_1.0-r20_mipsel.ipk

Anyone got this running on the HDF Mod?

It's not showing under my Yellow button. :err:

I think I'll reflash the box with a standard image.

i got the same error but i seem to have about 60 percent of sky tv on the EPG for 7 days the rest is just now and next.

hi m8s

is there any filebrowser which is adapted for TM?

Silly question, but how do I view the EPG?

In 'Sources' I told it to grab Rytec UK and it downloads a shitload of items, once it had finished I exited out and pressed the EPG button but I've still got the plain old basic EPG that the image comes with anyway.

Try pressing Menu button which should bring up your channel list, then the info button,

works on a DM500 anyway lol

TM800 is Enigma2 mate, it didn't work. :)

There is an EPG button on the remote but when I press it I only get the same standard EPG that the image uses as default.

press the EPG button, then either yellow for single EPG or Blue for Multi EPG view, then assuming the Ryetc plugin works ok and it has gathered the data you should see all the EPG (now/next etc)

Yup that's what it's supposed to do, but it doesn't. :(

Something must have went wrong, I'll start from scratch again....

lol

.......Actually, could it be because my TM800 seems to think it's the year 2027? :err:

It wouldn't help :proud:

There's a couple of things you can try to bring the time back in line with what it should be

Install the attached cronmanager (put the ipk file in tmp and run ipkg install )

and then in etc/cron/examples stick in the attached script.
Then within cronmanager set up a timed script update ..and it should get your time/date back on track

remember to ftp the time script and set its attributes to 755

Alternatively you could try and install the attached NTPupdate manager (again using ipkg install) and set that up and hopefully it should get your date/time back on track ... mines been solid ever since i've used these

Thanks mate.

I've installed cronmanager but now my TM800 is showing the 2 spinning cog wheels and it won't let me do anything.

I'll leave it alone for 10 minutes to see if it sorts itself, if not I'll reboot.

ntpupdatemanager has installed ok and I selected Europe then UK.

It reports that it has been activated and displays the ntp server (Pool I think?) but the time is stiff wrong - it has however realised that it's 2010 though which is progress. :)

what you could do is telnet into you box and go to /etc/cron/examples and then just initially run the script

type

./Time-Updater.sh

and then see if that gets your time back on track ..if not reboot and see what happens then.
