Hi,
I am a newbee and have just bought a TM600 and need hand holding with tutorials and help from forums to set it up.
I am trying to configure it for cs, but all the tutorials, cs websites etc seem to be for Dreambox. Was my purchase too hasty? Should I have got a Dreambox? Or are they so similar that what works on one works on the other?

Have a look here Mt8, its not difficult

as far as cccam setup for cs is concerned it is done exactly the same as a dreambox

CS will work on both Dream and TM as both are linux based devices capable of running CCAM.
But if your talking about general support, tutorials etc...Dream are more established and popular hence larger support community, more software images, more tools etc etc..
You can CS with a TM600 just have to search a bit more for the info, or if you have some experience of linux based recievers theyre not much different from dreams...

i used to use dream in the cable world and now using tm600 for my first motorised sat setup

there really is very little difference

Thanks for prompt replies.
I've already flashed TM600-UR-10-14-2009, it's what do I do next that I need guidance with.
I've downloaded some stuff that starts C: then what looks like a series of keys from a site supposedely giving free server access. Are these what are refered to a clines? Are they the path to cs, and if so, what do I do with them?

Ok, are you using the latest version of cccam as your default cam?

If yes then you add your cline (c: address port user pass) to your cccam.cfg file (/var/etc/cccam.cfg)

you should then browse to your box (http://aa.bb.cc.dd:16001) click servers and it will show your server connection

I have a choice of
CCcam 2.1.0
'' + NewCS1.65
'' + NewCS1.67
Mgcamd1.31
'' + NewCS1.65
'' + NewCS1.67
which should I use, or is there a later version.
I'll have a bash with the basic CCcam 2.1.0 tonight unless you post a reply before then.
Thanks for help

Go to the blue panel and download cccam 2.1.4

ok downloaded 2.1.4 give me a clue as to how I
add your cline (c: address port user pass) to your cccam.cfg file (/var/etc/cccam.cfg)
This is going well thanks for assistance

Made some more progress. (I think)

Configured network connections with -

Start/Control Panel/Network Connections/Local Area Connection/Properties/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)/Properties :
- CHECK the option "Use the following IP address" and set :
i> IP address : 192.168.xxx.yyy
ii> Subnetmask : BY DEFAULT , 255.255.255.0
iii> Default gateway : the Local IP address of the Modem-router (192.168.xxx.zzz)
- CHECK the option : "Use the following DNS server addresses" and set as "preferred" & "alternate" the Public IP addresses (primary and secondary) of your ISProvider OR the Router's Local IP address (192.168.1.1)
did not know I{P address of ISProvider so entered the Local IP address as per iii> (Hope this is OK)

Downloaded and installed Filezilla 3.3.2.1
and now digging around tutorial for filezilla

Am I going down the right road, or wasting my time?

OK now connected from my PC to TM600 with filezilla and can see file structure on TM600 including /var/etc/cccam.cfg but now feel I'm getting into dangerous grounds if I start transfering data into my TM600 without someone holding my hand and confirming I am doing things right.
I've opened and looked at cccam.cfg and there's an enormous load of quite unintelligable (at least to me) text there.
I'm worried I may cause serious problems and possibly kill my TM600.

Ok so far....
FTP to your tm and find the cccam.cfg
copy it to your local machine
open the cfg file in notepad
add your cline (order not important, it can be the first line)
save locally
FTP back to your tm in the same place it was
now web browse to your box :16001
you should see the cccam status
click servers and you will see your cline and it's status

OK done that and can see the status of the two servers I entered, neither are connected. Well, what could I expect from a free cs server. I'll carry on looking. Are there any free ones out there, or am I wasting my time looking?
Is there anything else I should know or do?
Thanks for your hand holding, a great help, and by the look of the number of hits the thread has had, many more have benifited from your assistance.
One last question, is there any danger in connecting my TM600 to the web with this method, through my router? Can anyone hack into my network and plant malitious software on the computers I also have connected to the router?
Once again thanks for all your help

If you have configured no port forwarding etc on your router then you are safe.

The only connection is outgoing

I'd be very interested if you found a reliable free server but I would guess that sort of info should be kept to pm :)

If you're not happy then I'll gladly swap my 1 week old Dreambox 500 for your TM600. ;)

Sorry won't swap, with all the help I've been ngetting from h00ker I seem to have got over the learning curve.
Found a whole range of supposedly free servers, but none of them connect. I don't have to do anything to connect do I?
I think the free cs server is a myth, perhaps I'll just try a 1 month sub to a pay service just to check out that everything works.

Hehe, well it was worth a try :)

@ wyyemrider, free servers are more than a myth mate.
