Hi all, reletivley new to the sat game, have a patched 5400,

1st question can I cs on a 5400?, if so how do i go about this? what software do i need and what cables if any, i have a wireless connection within my home, im aware i would have to subscribe to a pay site get the best access to cs

If this is all possible is there a sticky anywhere i can read?

many thanks

i spoke to technomate yesterday, and the guy i talk to there said sssp is implemented in all of the latest patches, including the 5000usb AND 1000 series

if this is the case (ive not had time to check yet) then youll need a null modem cable connecting your receiver to your PC, and software such as WSP on your PC to connect your receiver to the server

there is a thread about CS on the 1000 series that covers this in a bit more detail

thanks for reply Digi, i will have a search for cs on 1000 series, excuse my ingnorance, however is it possible to connect technomate to pc wirelessly, im sure people have same issue as myself as in sat box in living room, pc upstairs

cheers

with these receivers m8, its not, as the only way of communicating is via the RS232 port on the back

while there is RS232 bluetooth adaptors, they dont work as the receiver has no way of loading the required drivers for this hardware

So i`m assuming i could connect my laptop to the sat box via usb to rs232?

if so its off to e bay to buy one

cheers

Do you know if technomate will be implimenting any other protocols other than newcamd in the 5000 and 1000 series?

with the 5000 and 1000 series this is dealt with by the actual software installed on the PC, the receiver communicates with the PC via SSSP, the PC then communicates with the server and acts as an interpreter, im pretty sure when i last used WSP (Windows Sharing Pack) that there was 3 or 4 different protocol options to choose from in a drop down list on the server tab m8

WSP only supports the options posted by fearona. There is no option to use C or G protocol, don't suppose you have an updated version of wsp m8?

Its the same version I have m8 can't seem to find an updated one on the web.

Hi new here.
Been reading a bit on this site and decided to try this sssp lark on my tm 5400ci+.

Using wsp.
I can get the pc and box comunicating on com2, found a couple of temp free servers that seemed to work on newcamd. Eveything seems to work as it should but cant get channels to clear.

when i change channel the box seems to send a few lines of stuff, pid etc
server responds with another few lines of stuff ?.

when the server connects I get mod number and card info etc, yet nothing clears?.
on the odd occasion i get a line saying " no dw i packet probably not supported on this server?.

thats as far as ive got, being a total newb i dont really understand any of it but it might help anyone who knows what there doing.
living in hope the 5400 isnt dead yet

Mick...

You dont need any plug-in unless you want to connect to a gbox server. I'd say stick with newcamd servers for technomates. You just need to contact whoever runs the server and confirm the details are correct and still valid. Once you have working details i'm sure you will find it works fine.

Abouw the newcamd server, you are correct.

But beware of this Free or 'Pay' servers.
They are not only very illegal but also very unstable.
In My point of view You should never pay for such a services !!!

If you have a dreambox or a pc available it is better to make a server yourself ans share with people you know with a local smartcard.

You can connect the Tm6900HD newcamd client with a dreambox which is running Gbox.
There is a whole tutorial on this forum on how to achieve this.

got the tm5400ci+ working on a temp server.
Used newcamd server for art 13e. everything worked straight off after puttin in host, port user and pass for server into wsp. channels took about 10-15 secs to clear after channel change.
no freezing. so it does work mmmmmmm where now?:xmas:

@ astromick

have you a link to the pc software you have used to connect your TM5400 via serial to the net.

Would be cool to have this working , got a bit of time over the next couple of days to try it out.

cheers
