Seen this posted so many times I thought a poll was needed to finally sort it out.

AVG free. For me never had any problems! Worst one i've used is trend micro housecall.

I work in it shop anyone with avg or norton 360 even kaspersky which is 2nd best, Run a bitdefender online scan
Its free try it then see who makes the best anti virus / spyware package, i promise you at this time its gona be Bitdefender for sure, few years back i would have said norton but viruses change and so do the removal packages.

Using AVG for yonks but have a PC running Zonealarm pro, it did'nt cost me anything, and that seem s to be working fine also.

mcafee is good mate.. AVG has got high poll as it is free.. norton slows the PC down as it uses virtual memory..

McAfee for me, wouldnt have Norton anywhere near any machine, it is a hungry fekker.

The best AV is the one that works for you and protects you no matter what others think.

Zonealarm security suite for me all in one package means less hastle IMO
On the downside i do have to turn email scanning off otherwise it hogs my cpu
