Win 10 windows 10

So,,,,,,,,

Would I be better when the time comes, downgrading my Win 10 evaluation copy ( 10125) to Win 7, Activate it ;) and then upgrade to free Win 10.?

I read somewhere that Windows insiders will be offered the RTM first as long as we have a win 7 or 8 licence key.

I’ll try and find it a bit later on

Head of Windows Insiders Gabriel Aul has confirmed on Twitter that all members in the program using the Windows 10 Technical Preview (or the Insider Preview as it is now called) will be able to upgrade to the RTM build of Windows 10 for free.

Windows Insiders will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 RTM for free | Windows Central

@gabeAul @tao_huan Please make it clear. Do you mean free licence and activation or just free to upgrade?

Gabriel Aul
@dirtyWindows_ @tao_huan You'll have to be upgrading from a system with a valid license for 7 or 8.x

Windows 10 RTM upgrade: Windows Insiders will still need a valid Windows 8 license

For those who signed up and downloaded a pre-release build of Windows 10, on July 29th, you will receive the GA (General Availability) build of the OS, Microsoft has confirmed.

This clears up any bit of confusion for those who are using the pre-release bits and want to make the jump to the final release.

The insiders then will need to decide if they want to stay on the early release path or stick to the stable release channel.

Windows Insiders will get the Windows 10 GA build on July 29th

I just got a popup in task bar asking me if I wanted a free Windows 10 upgrade :)

Yes Please!! :)

Microsoft has started advertising Windows 10 to users of Windows 7 and 8 with the window that you see above. This notification window is now popping up for Windows users all around the world and it lets you register for a copy of the free new OS.

Windows 7 and 8 users are now able to reserve their free copy of Windows 10

Not much then I guess, I'll try it when it downloads I like the look of it so far

just watch if you do not have genuine key though or once upgraded you may end up

either with a 30 day trial or once first year is up you may need to pay for it

would be better waiting a while to see the activation process also

That makes sense, but its a free upgrade so they cant charge you for it afrer x amount of time, but its microsoft so im sure they will have a loophole

Been running windows 10 for a while now and glad to say it's got better with time..
Still has a few teething problems for me anyway like changing the view of folders and files from small to large icons etc as it jams for me...
Also notice while I have a SSD and boot time is rapid it takes quite a while to fully load everything once booted.Im hopping these problems are all ironed out by the time it's released on July 29th..that's what my upgrade message from MS says.

Windows 10 uses the same activation technology as windows 8.1 so methods to activate 8.1 work on 10 also..well they are at present for me using non Microsoft download of 10130.I guess as in the past there will be a demon update you will need to avoid etc that stops the system being checked for genuine OS..

kms change on the horizon as with all OS changes

the minimum specs they claim to run the OS is laughable if you are on basic hardware

so so slow

as for activation protocall its a waiting game

Just in case you missed out on the windows 10 update offer for whatever reason

Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, revealed recently that the company was internally testing Windows 10 build 10134, saying that users enrolled in the fast ring could get it very soon.

Aul now posted online screenshots of Windows 10 build 10136, an unreleased version which could also get the green light for insiders too.

Details are missing for the time being, but since the company is already teasing this build, it’s believed that it could be the next one to be publicly released.

Make of this what you will

@gabeAul How does licensing work if I update a current W10 preview install to RTM? Do I need to obtain an upgrade using my old Win7 key?

@The_Soupinator You'll be able to upgrade your W10 preview build to RTM and will not need your Win7 key.
