The images for the Solo 2 and the SOLO 2 SE should be the same... perhaps they use a different smartcard chip on the SE?
Anyway did you try to see if it works with the original blackhole that comes with the box?

You would be better off with a pcmcia card to RS232 if your laptop has a pcmcia slot.
A lot more reliable then those usb to rs232 leads
Think you most use COM 1
Port settings
Bitts per sekund 9600
Databits 8
Parity None
Stop bits 1
Flow control None
ok so if I understand correctly the solo 2 SE worked fine until this upgrade... let me recap here to help on the troubleshooting:
1: the SOLO 2 SE with any load other than blackhole 2.30 can read a smartcard correctly
2: the SOLO 2 SE with blackhole 2.3.0 cannot read a smartcard
So now the problem could be:
1: there is a problem with the blackhole 2.3 (possibly due to edited drivers or something?)
2: there is a problem with the combination of blackhole 2.3.0 and the SOLO 2 SE
3: somethung else?
Can somebody with a SOLO 2 (not SE, just the normal one) check whether they can use a smartcard with the blackhole 2.3.0?

Has anyone tried using OScam with the internal readers? I don't have a card to test myself.
For the RS232, some Motherboards do have COM port headers on the board, you can then use a backplate with a RS232 wired direct to the board, they work as good as a board with the RS232 on the rear.

Hi, i had the latest vix apollo 32 build running on this for few days now working fine
i flashed
UPDADE TOOLS_20140906
also i tried the flashing the bootloader via com port just to see and it flashed fine, but i noticed after flashing the bootloader, then flashing using the images from VU+ and X Website --- Home , it goes through the process, usb stick flashes , but it doesnt boot, just stays blank, only way flashing worked was to flash official vix apollo 32build then after i can then flash images from VU+ and X Website --- Home
i also flashed older UPDATE TOOLS_20140508 and then try the official image to try to brick it, but it still boots up although with sat and network connected it gets stuck on boot,
i wanted it to go blank so could really see flashing the bootloader working , wonder what protection they have on these se models

Was the first vix apollo 32 (the one that you are using several days) that you say downloaded from vu-hd.com or was an official image?

Do you boot the vu solo with this image or flash the official and without boot you flash the image from vu-hd.com?
I understand from your words that does not seem to be very easy to brick the vu solo2 se. Is it right?
yes using official original , using build 29 from VU+ and X Website --- Home wouldnt update now anway vix have changed it so needs clean flash from 32build
and i meant when i flashed the bootloader flashing image after from VU+ and X Website --- Home didnt work, only way it worked was using apollo 32 build from official site and worked fine, then after can flash images from VU+ and X Website --- Home if u want to
i wanted to brick it, so could test if the recovery via com port flashing bootloader would recover it, but i cant seem to brick it even when flashed older UPDADE TOOLS_20140508 which i know bricked with new driver updates, but it still boots up so can flash via usb easy,
