What Satellite & Digital TV magazine hits the papershops today, with a 3 page review of the TM-TWIN OE, where it gets a very high score, looked at in quite a lot of detail.

Next month, the 2T gets reviewed

Go out and buy a copy of What Satellite today for a look :)

TM still pay for a lot of advertising there then Digidude?

as far as i know m8, no, TM themselfs dont have a single ad in there for ages now, i get it every month and havent seen a TM.com ad for over a year that i can think of

Plus, i KNOW 1001% that TM themselfs WERE NOT involved at all in getting these receivers reviewed

Wow TM-8000 same price as a Clarke-Tech/Xtrend ET-9000 Also this review only gives the Xtrend 75% rating but the user's give it 100% Xtrend ET-9000 review | Linux-TV.com

I personally have no problem with TM boxes apart from in the early days with half working receiver's but that support put me off for life, but I know where my money would go If I was forking out for a premium box.

in the early days, the support for TM was fantastic, and thats probably what gave TM receivers their boost, then after whatever happened between TM and the forum that used to be the outlet for all the patches and software etc, the software took a massive nose dive, then the linux boxes started to appear, and the software spluttered along, before diving to kamikaze levels.

slowly, on the closed receivers software, things have been getting better, and the linux receivers, while the software support is now on a par with all of the major receivers, the hit that TMs reputation took over their previous 'attempts', blocks out whats now there for a lot of people

What the TM800 did to TM may take another 5 years for their reputation to recover enough for people to put their trust in them again, but, the new linux receivers ARE actually putting other receivers out of action, on the ViX forum, one of their admin openly posts that he now uses TM linux receivers in place of his Vu receivers, quite a few of their beta team also post the same. My duo got sold, and a twin in its place, and i know of 3 other people who have done the same

yerrr it's funny how most mods and people in the know avoid the VU boxes in favour of other's like the Clarke boxes, I suppose everyone has different view's likes and dislikes its all good stuff.

i had a Vu+ Duo about a month after they were released, at a trade discount price of about £420 at the time lol, and only got shot of it about a month ago, still in its original brand new condition, not even the protective film had been removed from any of it etc. all i used to use it for really was creating ipk files on its internal hdd and testing the odd plugin here and there, but, i had always, right up untill i sold it, had the old ViX 2.0 image on it, it worked for what i wanted, so why bother updating :)

WhatSat don't have any credibility left after they're blatantly TM sponsored TM800 review. You don't need to buy some random magazine for reviews magazines and certain websites for that matter are always open to advertising and sponsor bias. Gather your opinions from reading multiple different forums reports from users, owners and enthusiasts are more trustworthy and credible.
However you still have to be careful to avoid the "fanbois" and "TM Zombies" as i've heard them referred to on other forums..some of these are resellers of TM products, people who get given freebie boxes as a "bribe" to say good things about TM products on forums, Beta testers, TM staff even..we all know about the latter :)

Tbh the tm twin works perfect after it's initial problems from what i see on the forums.

with the newer ones running images from places like Vix, aaf, hdfreaks, the only difference now is in the hardware (which no matter how bad software has been, TM have always had excellent hardware) and the drivers. and prior to people saying 'omg the drivers etc' an admin of the vix team has posted here about driver issues being ignored by Vu for over 2 years etc

TM just may be 'too late' to the table with these new receivers, especially if CS goes tits up in the next 6 months, as TBH, its only really hobbyists who would buy a receiver like this if there wasnt CS about, look at how 'cloak and dagger' dreambox stuff was 6 years ago
