HI all,
just received a couple of DM500s from china today. I need to put an image on
someone recommended commando 14.6

is there a download link for the image anywhere?

also the box doesnt have USB so i cannot use that method to flash the box.

and i have have a serial connector on my pc to use the RS232 (need to order rs232 - usb adaptor)

i heard there is a way to flash the box over the network could someone help me out with this. what software do i need? etc..

i guess all i really need to install on the box is a channel list, Cccam (for my cline) , and 5-7day EPG?

Commando 14.6 will give you everything you need for the 500. You will need a null modem cable and a copy of dream up to flash it

C14.6 is in the dreambox download section

Check the Dreambox downloads section of the forum theres a commando 14.6 thread in there. Commando already has EPG functionality incorporated in the image. You will have to manually FTP softcam to the reciever. It's better to have a physical serial port USB - rs232 are not reliable.
You can Network flash with dreambox flash wizard or by manually FTPing the image over then installing it if there is enough free space. but if you brick the reciever you will need null modem serial...so basically make sure you have a working null modem and serial conenction it's safer

where can i get "dreamup" from?
also i need to manually copy softcam onto the box is this a ipk file? that i need to copy onto the box?

Dreamup is probably in downloads section or you should be able to google it, your after v 1.3.3.4 or below. Higher versions dont work well with clones. You need to copy just the CCCam excutable file not an IPK file. I used an E1 version of CCCam intended for a DM500 gemini image and copied across the CCCam file.

i just found a copy but its 1.3.3.9 so ill look for a lower version. just got to wait on my cable to arrive now

where can i source a copy of CCCam file from? i saw PLI image had it incorperated but wanted to try commando..

theres a few versions of cccam on dremboxtool download an Enigma 1 version, and extract the CCcam.ppc working file to transfer across. From what I remember Commando needs the file to be named in a exact format otherwise it wont detect the softcam , needs to be named CCcam and should be placed in /var/bin/emu .

libcrypto.so.0.9.7

do i just use the .img file to load onto the box? ifso whats the libcrypto file used for?

The pinouts are different on a null modem cable transmit on one side goes to recieve on the other side in effect like a crossover ethernet cable. Normal RS232 is straight through.

the boxes are brand new straight out of the box (from china) i plugged one box in and d/l a channel list from 28.2E and just tested bbc etc just to make sure it works.
if i press menu i have 8 options (1)tv mode (2)radio mode (3)file mode (4)information (5)shutdown (6)setup (7)games (8)timer
it does say "enigma" on the GUI for the menu..

it's a standard FTA enigma 1 image that you will have on the reciever. your main issue is probably going to be getting dreamup to work with your USB- RS232 convertor...

lol... your right just tried to connect to dreamup and when i get to the "switch box on "stage dreamup doesnt find the box.. i have no serial connection on back of PC or on laptop or a netbook.. will i NULL modem ---> usb lead (ie no adaptor) work?

smirnoff_rules yes in menu / setup / expert setup there is a option for "software update" - then it gives me option internet update or manual update.


with the out of the box image (standard FTA enigma 1) can i still copy the Cccam stuff over or do i need to put a real image onto the box 1st?
