English And Proud ! BUT I am GAY!

No you wouldn't - that's why you are here on DW slagging everyone else off instead of being out there with your vuvuzela ;)

Sorry m8 but I disagree again, IF we do manage to scrape through - and even if we hammer the Serbs 10-nil it will be just scraping through - then people still know that Joe Cole and Peter Crouch need bringing in and Fat Frank wants dropping....that and the fact that even if we do get through it doesn't mask the shite we've seen so far and the obviousness that Capello hasn't quite got it right and the players playing are playing way beneath themselves....so the armchair or online tacticians will still do their thing regardless of what happens on Wednesday bud....

That being said I hope he gets it right on Wednesday and we play significantly better and we do get through - maybe then our WC can kick into gear and I can start to enjoy the tournament properly. Though most likely it'll be shite again and we'll spawn qualification somehow.....unless Cole and Crouch pull us out of it single handed....

There it is in all its glory
English mentality
doomed

i didn't say we are doomed - you did.
i'm not the one slagging off other england fans, you are.

what part of reality do you not understand ? we have already drawn 2 of 3 games against lowly opposition through playing shit thus leaving us in a do or die match against the current table toppers in what should have been an easy group...so scraping through is accurate. unless they get beat on wednesday. that's fact.

Just watched the current World Champions do exactly the same as us and not a single boo. They got held by feckin New Zealand an all lmao.

Are you seriously comparing that with the England fiasco...Italy tried and tried and tried, they were almost camped out in NZ half. The effort was there for Italy....I hope England try as much on Weds.

England are not getting booed because of the results, its because they are not playing with heart, the fans would applaud them if they gave their all but got beat, but your team not trying is hard to take.

Spot on Jaffa, although Italy had a real go they very nearly lost it as Chris woods put one inches past.
Results like this should give England players a bit of heart surely and maybe just maybe if they can get things sorted out and start playing with passion and some team orginization then they might get it back on track.
Remember italy won the tourny before scraping through the group with 3 draws. Pualo Rossi then woke up and Italy exploded.

if Motherwell or scotland played without the passion, desire, fight and ethusiasm need to win football matches then i'd boo them off the park!

The England team are letting their fans down very badly, rooney commenting about loyal supporters? they havfe paid thousands to go and watch him and his cronies why don't the players show some loyalty by at least trying!!

bunch of over paid and over hyped diddies!

Scotland knows we dont have as technically gifted outfield players (our keepers are shit hot atm) as yous lot, but what we dont have in creativity we make up for in spirit and effort and the things mentioned above!

you can't compare england to Italia, at one point every player bar the keeper was in the NZ half, if they had a striker they would have won

england on the other hand dont seem to have anything, but watch this

the bastards will scrape through against slovenia........if they dont i''m having the biggest fookin party in the land!!!

Cheers

82 world cup ive got hazy memories of that one.
Cant compare Italy's performance to Englands but the results the same and had Chris Woods scored at the death Italy would be in the shite.
Had England camped out in the Algerian half and got beat then what ? Im not gonna defend the England performance in any shape or form (cant) but their still in the World cup. Its the boo boys that want their heads knocking together, how bad would it have been had England gone at em tooth and nail only to get hit on the break. Wonder if the boo boys would have kept silent then. What do the boos actually achieve if only to knock the teams confidence.
What makes this even more vital is ive got England in the fecking sweep

Yes they would. You seem to be completely missing the point.(in more than one thread.)

The boos were for the performance, not for the result.

Can't you get that into your head?

Yea i know that mate but what good does it do apart from tell the players something they already know.
They was shite

I am gonna back up the Gasman there.

The team is there to win a tournament and until they are out they should be backed all the way by the fans.

I do not believe for one minute, that the players didn't try, or that they don't care whether they win or lose.
I think that the pressure put on them by the press and the fans has got to them.
They ate still in the competition, and they know that they need to win on Wednesday.

If they had gone gung ho on Friday and conceded they would have been out of the competition.

Get behind the team,

We are behind the team and thats coming from someone who is not English.

In your opinion they were trying, in my opinion they certainly were not trying hard enough, that was a lack lustre attempt at football, they should have been able to win 3 or 4 nil against Algeria. They were unlucky against the Yanks but I sat cringing while I was watching the Algeria game, it was just so boring and predictable. If it hadn't been England I would have stopped watching it. The players know it was unacceptable, they also know that the fans expect more from them.

I think the fans had every right to boo them but I would bet you that everyone of those fans that booed them will be cheering them on come Wednesday.

Trust me I am 100% behind them, I will be gutted if they go out but lets be honest, it is a possibility.

Im not making any excuses for what was basically a crap performance both tactically and on the field itself. I think both the usa and algeria were surprisingly better than anyone thought the algerians were damn good passers of the ball if you ask me. We still should of rolled em over tho.
I just cant see what the booing was to gain, just heaps more pressure on a team that looks under pressure anyway.
Apparently the team and manager are to have a clear the air conference tonight to discuss any unsettling issues. Hopefully that will bring about the changes required for us to progress. Love to be a fly on the wall at that little meeting.

Edit link added apparently the team want Joe Cole in

Good to see Rat finally come out of the closet. ;)

may be this is the problem

Terry was stripped of the England captaincy earlier before the World Cup by Capello following a scandal surrounding his private life but the defender said it had not altered his approach in the dressing room. "Since I've lost the armband nothing has changed for me," he said. "I was born to do stuff like that and I will continue to do that in the dressing room and on the training field. No one will take that away from me."

to many cooks isnt it up to the manager and the captain to rally his troops

shouldnt terry keep his mouth shut??

i think so

I don't. Some people are natural leaders, others are not. Some people lead by example, others carry the influence of a golden tongue as it were. Generally speaking I believe it to be better to have a team of leaders rather than just the 1 person assigned as captain shouldering all the pressures and the morale and motivation level of his team mates. Natural leaders will always do that since that's part of who they are. On the other hand some captains prefer to lead by example on the pitch a la Gerrard and Beckham. Can never have too many leaders imo. But the captain should be the one who can get the job done not be a crock when we 'need him'.
