Super Mario Bros Wii

I think im about to go and buy the game. I can't be assed with the hassle with softmodding anymore, having to feck about everytime a new game comes out.

good for you :proud:

chipped users had the same initial problem, so ..

ive just been converted to the Hard drive way of playing wii.

as uve got firmware 3.2 i believe u can install the homebrew channel using the homebrew bootdisc. its a older version, but aslong as you have ur wii's wireless setup it will autoupdate for you.

Homebrew channel ISO

Apart from the above, i followed these instructions

USB Loader GX instructions

Ok, thanks mate. SO, I download the above file and run it from a SD card?

Then I follow the instructions for USB loader GX?

Ive got a portable 320gb hard drive but it's NTFS and contains loads of MKV'S that I want to keep ideally. Is there a way to format it so I can have like a spare 10gb for FAT 32 (I'll need this yeah to play nintendo iso's??)

And can I still use this USB loader eben though my wii is hardmoded on 3.2e?

Think we are short of a USB loder sticky and think this is a good foundation Bro, old boy... In your own time son...

... USB loader info is fragmented on this forum at the mo... I know feck all about it at the mo but looks like the way to go once I find a spare £30 for an HD...

the download above is a ISO file u burn to dvdr.

u can partition the external hd however u feel mate. just remember the 1st partion must be the wii partition. use wbfs (v3.0 is latest i believe) to format wii partition.

i have a wiikey chip and i used the above instructions.

Thanks mate. So can I partition the drive now without re-formatting it and losing all my video's etc? And how do you mean the '1st partition must be the wii one' ??? Does it let you format it in order then or something?

Another thing mate, can I just install the homebrew channel on my 3.2e hardmodded wii by using the 'bannerbomb' and hackmii methods using a SD card instead of burning the above file to a dvd?

***EDIT, HOMEBREW INSTALLED*** I now just need to figure out how to use one of the many USB loaders!!?

Wiiflow seems to be the choice of many lately, really simple to install just copy contents of rar file downloaded to sd and put games on hdd using WFBS manager. Ive got it installed with the carbonik theme which is really smart, going to have a little look at loadstructor soon which plays games on your hdd direct from a channel on the wii menu :)

I would down the hackmii kit and install the bootmii backup tool. then make a backup (just incase u brick ur wii). very simple.

just follow the instructions in my 1st post mate to install the usb loader gx. reason i use this loader over wiiflow is simpy because it allows me to copy dvd to hdd.

just follow from step 1, ignore the bit about installing HBC as uve already done that.

Err, I dont like the sound of 'bricking my wii' :FRIGHT:

I think ive actually installed the hack mii kit AND bootmii backup mate at the same time I installed the homebrew channel! It certainly gave me those options and I installed them anyway I think.. Ok, I'll have a go from post one. Wish me luck!
Can I use a 2gb usb memory keyring though mate as Ive heard the game is not that big? I could copy disc to that I suppose as a good first test? I suppose I'll need to format usb keyring first though mind.

Have you made a backup to SD, and bootmii installed as boot2?

If so, if you brick your wii you will be able to restore the backup.

Im pretty damn sure bootmii IS installed to boot 2. But how do I make a backup to SD?

Bit unsure about the ios36 and cios? I have on my HBC ios36 (so it says) so do I still need to install CIOS? But how?

If bootmii is installed then u should have had to use a sdcard. that sdcard will now have the files on it to bootup a wii. the menu will be different, u'll have a few options, 1 of which will be to backup ur wii.

basically insert the sdcard and switch the wii on. follow the instructions

Try installing a cIOS with a cIOS installer (using IOS36). If this doesn't work (if you get an error while installing), you don't have a patched IOS (needed by the cIOS installer) and you have to use one of the two methods below.

Online method (Using wifi on the wii)

Get the Trucha bug restorer by wiipower and run it with the HBC. You will see a lot of white text on a black screen. This is how many installers/patchers look like. It has no nice banner and stuff to keep the filesize low.

1) Select IOS36 and press A. Even more text appears, read it if you want. Wait for the text at the bottom to appear and press 1.

2) Choose Downgrade IOS15. Then download from NUS (2 times). Follow instructions on the screen.

3) Now we can use the downgraded IOS15 to restore the Trucha in IOS36. Run TBR again. This time choose IOS15 and again press A then 1 when the text appears.

4) Go into the IOS36 menu. Use these configurations: 36 (this is in what IOS-slot the patched IOS36 will be placed.) YES YES NO (actually you can choose what you want for the last 2 options), then select Install patched IOS36 and press A. Choose Download from NUS once again and follow on screen instructions.

5) Now we have the patched IOS36, we can restore our IOS15 again. Load the TBR one last time. Choose IOS36,... .This time choose restore IOS15. Get the IOS from NUS and let the app finish everything.

We are ready to install our cIOS. I will explain here how to get cIOS38r14 by waninkoko. You can also install another rev of this cIOS (don't go lower than r9) or a rev of IOS222/223 by hermes. All IOS have different uses and bugs. Its up to you to find out what these are.

Get the installer here: FileTrip - cIOS - installer 15 . Follow all the instructions at the link, but choose IOS36 instead of IOS249 (this is why we have patched IOS36). When you are asked to use wad install or online install, choose online install. You will then have the cIOS needed by the USB loader.

Thanks mate, Ive now installed the CIos, and coverfloader and dont get the error 002 anymore. BUT instead get a different error message saying eject disc etc etc... Any way around this? Is this because I may not have a 'patched' version of the game?? Or is there another way around it? Im close to getting this game to work but just cant quite crack it!
