I have nothing against traders, what I have a problem with is leachers. Some people either a just to lazy or just cannot get their head arround the cable scene so use a trader, fine.

But people that come here to get info, whether a trader or not and then don't help others is all wrong.

Have to stick up for the shack.

A largely great bunch of lads who got too good at what they did (passing info on to people who are not tech heads).

By closing the cable forum down this place is trying to close the stable door not knowing whether the horse is in or out.

Lets have a comparison.

Shack asks for people to register, hosted files on own server (keys went years ago), and asked for donations.

DW asks for registration, hosted (not now?) files on own server, and hinted - especially recently - that donations would lead to illegal encryption keys in extraCP.

Mods are right to close the forums.

Fingers crossed boys.

its a shame and sad that anyone should feel the sting of recent events no matter who they are.many people all over have differant opinions and gripes about whoever but in some way or another all in some way have benifited from there quest of side steping so we should be a little greatfull and a little sad for those involved.its a sad sad day for all.we all should show respect and not be to quick to slate anyone.

10 & 5 month for £27,000 not bad going if you ask me. Especially if you consider they'll only server around half that with good behaviour.

No member of the admin or mod team, as far as im aware, has ever said anything remotly close. people who choose to donate help out towards the cost of running 3 servers. people who choose to donate have no 'extras' than any member who is an active member. Upon registration certain limits are in place to stop leechers coming, downloading what they want, and leaving, DW's bandwidth has to be paid for as well. By choosing to donate, a new member will have these restrictions lifted.

27k for 10 moths ok .....wow. You can always earn a shilling mate but you cant get back a lost day...or lost 5-10 months in this case.
Very harsh and done as a clear message/threat to all similiar forums out there. By the looks of things the "Threat" has at least worked in a fashion. (BTW no way am i knocking any decisions the site admin ect have taken....id have done the same in a hearbeat. )
Just like the "panic" the other week when the keyroll changed.....people take a bit of "Free TV" far too seriously. FFS it seems some were almost suicidal that thier UKGOLD was no longer on so they couldn't watch the repeats of all the old stuff we all watched years ago....when you look at it there are probably like 6 fav channels that most people watch - im not saying everyone watches the Same 6 but IMHO from what ive seen from myself and my brothers and friends ect i think most just have it because "its there". Lets face it we all knew that the cable section was for educational purpose only but try and convince a jury of that and your fail.
A few reasons why it could fail, Your unable to post in the cable section until you donate or have 20 posts DW even has a team of Mods checking post clocking, could be argued this is to get more people to donate so they can get access to the cable section.
( I know what the Mods will say to that but we are trying to convince a jury remember)
The most people online was 9th April just after the hit from Virgin Media and I bet most were in the cable section, and I bet the number of donated members went up around that time, very hard to explain.
Another thing that could be used against DW is, Virgin Media and Mr. Plod knock on the door of Mr Donated member and find in use 3 dodgy cable boxes, Mr Donated member is promised just a caution and confiscation of the boxes in return for a statement as to where he got the files and tuts on how to mod the boxes, I guarantee he will sing like a canary.
Now this is just hyperthical but I am sure a top QC could really make a good case with loads more information, as I am sure a top QC could make a good defense, I am just glad I'm not paying the bill

I dug out an old copy of the 'guide' that has caused all the problems.

It was all about modifying the cable company's own set-top boxes (admittedly recommending you buy them from ebay or another 3rd party).

There was no mention of dbox's, dreambox's et al in the guide, which are all legal pieces of equipment, whereas all the cc's own boxes must have been stolen in the first place as the conditions on their use state that they remain the property of the cc at all times!
