wireless ipaq

Hi got a sd wireless card for my ipaq to do some wardriving(or warwalking)
To scan for mac addresses.
I got a few programs to detect wifi hotspots,but as yet have been unable to connect to any routers.
Not even my brothers.
I got a cool little program called wififofum that can pick up about 50 wifi signals in just a short drive but wont connect and when my brother tried his wifi lap top he connected staright away.to his neighbours.
Am i doing something wrong or has anyone got a better programe for ipag they can recomend.

not sure if this is any help to you but i know when i was having gps problems it was because the my pda ir beam receiver was enabled.mines an xda2 so as i say i dont know if itll help you but turn bluetooth and beam off if yours has them it might help.
