Which HD boxes to avoid and which to go for?

The title kind of says it all.

I'm not so much interested in the specs; I can compare those myself.

What I'd like to know is which ones are user-friendly and seem reliable, along with those that are a PITA to use and keep rebooting or freezing.

I am assuming you want to use freeview.

Most of the hd pvr freeview receiver i have installed have worked flawlessly... Used quite a few panisonics... and many other makes

Even when they were "National Panasonic", they made stuff that was reliable and easy to service. Nowadays, their TVs and monitors are excellent too.

It's reassuring to hear that modern STBs don't have their traditional faults. Thank you.

I was really thinking more about models from the unknown manufacturers we see in Argos or on Fleabay.
