Y this was just a heads up to people letting them know when hteir local store will be closing so some peeps might be able to pick up a bargain or 2 ... doubt it though as my local stores were all but cleaned out today and the games console shelves were completely empty although i bet some stock was out the back ready for the staff

eh? the op has simply posted a list of when the stores close so you know when you need to get in there and grab the last minute bargains.

I just cant believe theyre arguing about this.. simple fact is that if we dont go buy the stuff the chance of the staff getting any money lowers..

and if i dont buy the stuff someone else will.

Its every man for himself in this climate...

Whatever else, I'm going to miss Woollies. It was always handy for buying things like glue, cups, shoelaces, torches...

In my nearest town it just felt like a nice local shop with good stock and friendly, helpful staff.

27,000 less people able to buy cars, car industry fooked, steel industry fooked = More people unemployed, less people buying stuff, more people unemployed = less people to able to buy stuff......... It's a viscious circle and although I've no problem in people getting a bargain it's depressing that I'll probably be unemployed soon along with many others as the spiral downwards continues.

Nobody seems to be mentioning that the closure of Woolies leaves a gap in the market and the slack will be taken up by someone, probably tescos. This means job opportunities, probably not as many that were carried by Woolies, will become available.
These days it all boils down to who's being managed the best, lets face it - Woolies would have gone even without the credit crunch, they were struggling for years.
