What Do You Fancy To Eat

The amount of time McIndians has changed ownership in the last 10+ years is unbeleivable and that, I'm afraid to say, has also led to them not being the best. I remember I used to go there every weekend with the family for a nice munch but now its just become an overpriced takeaway with not so nice food.

TBA, now when I am visiting my parents I eat around belgrave road, there are plenty of places round there which are cheap with good food.

Yes there is that option of going to Belgrave Rd/Melton Rd but having lived in Leicester all my life it gets a bit monotonous eating in the same places and the same types of food.

Any specific places you go to or you like on Belgrave Rd?

Round that area,
Pure veg - Ambica on belgrave road on the junction of Loughbough road/melton road. Its a sweet mart downstairs but have a restaurant upstairs.
Tandori/western style curry place - Curry fever, I think it must have been there for 30 years now.
Don't look too hard at hygine - Billal on the corner of Jermyn street and melton road. Real dive looking place but good food. They do a mixed kebab in naan which is really nice. Don't speak much English.
Indo-chinese. Place opposite Thorn lighting further up melton road. I think its called indigo. It veggie, crap service and high prices but their food is OK.
Grill place/Pub - Coranation on corner of cannon street and cathrine street. Its gotten more pricy since they got popular but the food is still very good and you can see it being cooked behind the counter. Their mixed grill and chicken tawa are both good but their curries can be oily.
Place for the kids. Jungle club on Checketts road near Loughbrough road. They have indoor place area and food is alright.

Living in Essex I am well starved of good indian places so I always look forward to eating out when I visit my parents.

after a night out or after you are finished drinking on the way home what do you really like to Finnish the night off in style ,me i like going for a chips.donner-meat/cheese...soak up some of the alcohol

Am the same as you fella but they call it a hoagie in ma local.

Sounds like you eat in Leicester a lot!!!! Well I suppose Indian restaurants and takeaways are in abundance here as well as the likes of Manchester and Birmingham.

There's a place on Melton Rd called Chilli 2Night. It's a decent place with good food and good service. Took my mates from Uni there and they loved it - they were from Nottingham and there's some decent food places in Nottingham as well.

I grew up in Leicester and go back normally at least once a month for a couple of nights and normally eat out a fair amount plus do takeaway to bring home.

I know Chilli2Night, never tried it though, might give it a try next time. I am there next week. If I remember its next to or near Jalaram sweet mart which BTW is probably is the best indian sweet mart in the UK. You know its good 'coz it normally queuing out onto the street on a Sunday morning.

Well for me its got to be a curry. Living in Birmingham its the only place to end up after a skin full of beer. If its a good nite and the curry shop is closed (after 3am normally) then its off to big johns in Erdington as this is open till 3am Sun till Thu or 5am Fri and Sat.

Have a look at it mate, and also there's a place on Evington Rd called "Jungle Paprika". More of a takeaway than a restaurant but they do some really nice steaks and other dishes, most of their dishes originate from Africa, specifically Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. And their Gazeebo sauce is really nice (quite spicy!!!) Have a look there as well and there is also "Ayesha's". Its a restaurant/takeaway/Dessert Parlour (An odd combination). They have some really nice fast food and some cracking deserts. Their also on Evington Rd.

Where abouts did you grow up in Leicester?

I may pop over that way, I was actually born in Africa so it should be interesting. Might have to leave the missus at home, she is vegetarian so not so good for her.

I grew up in the Belgrave area and my parents still live there.

Definitely check them out and if there's anything specific that you're looking to eat or looking for a place, just holler and I'll try and do my best to help.

Saucy ... the burger van was handing out free porn with food
Ross Parry

By STAFF REPORTER

Published: Today
COPS have seized a burger van whose owners handed out free PORN to hungry punters spending more than a fiver on takeaway grub and booze.

The owners of the caravan even had the bare-faced cheek to play adult flicks on a portable TV inside to entice lads piling out of bars and clubs in the early hours.

Having ordered a kebab, burger or chips they were then given a free raunchy DVD if they had shelled out more than £5.

But the offer was spotted by outraged locals in the market town of Driffield, East Yorkshire, who alerted police and two men were arrested following an undercover operation.

Officers also believe the van was not licensed to sell food or alcohol. The men have been bailed pending further investigations.

Sgt Dave Jenkins said: "The van had been operating for about two weeks.

"We received complaints that free porn DVDs were being offered to everyone who spent £5 or more on beer and burgers. Undercover officers made test purchases and found this to be true before Saturday night's operation when the caravan was seized.

"We won't tolerate this because a youngster could have been given the DVDs."

Confiscated DVDs have been passed to East Riding Council's trading standards department.

Police licensing officer PC Carolyn Grundy said: "Porn was being played on a TV inside the caravan when we arrived on Saturday night.

"It is unbelievable customers were being offered porn DVDs with their beer and burgers at an outlet that did not even have the necessary licences.

"The operation went well and we are now looking at the evidence to see what offences have been committed."

Lol

Hmm, are you quite sure that's mayonnaise? pmsl

If i get out of the pub early enough i like chicken and pineapple from the chinese with boiled rice and chips.

If i'm out in town i like to get a doner kebab, and if i'm out locally and it's too late to order chinese, just a cheeseburger and chips from the local chippy. :)
