I knew he'd do some damage once they let him do his thing.

But for a minute it was looking like another case of an England team taking a talented young bloke to a tournament but the coach not wanting to play him

(remember how Hoddle was with Michael Owen - "not a natural goalscorer"?!?!? and dont even get me started on that Sven and Theo joke in the summer!!!)

I'm not with all that "bring the boy along in the squad for the international experience" foolishness... if you're good enough to be selected then you should be good enough to play.
