Vista wont pick up HDD

Just got meself a Markus 750 media center with 500 gig HDD attatched internaly
Me lappy with vista on wont pick it up as f drive
And if it does ,it locks up and a reboot is needed

If i put my Lads lappy into it with XP os It runs no trouble
Anybody know how i can get it to pick up the vista Laptop.......Paul

Does it appear in disk management? [WinKey]+[R] > diskmgmt.msc

Right click on "My Computer"
Click "Manage"
Then on the right hand side pane, second from the bottom is "Disk Management"

See if it is there..

i had this trouble the other day, as long as there isn't an actual issue with the HDD itself and the HDD isn't showing up in device manager/explorer try resetting the CMOS by removing the internal battery or switching the pins for 10 seconds to reset the cmos. hope it helps

Right ,
When first plugged in it shows in Managment for about 20 secs
Then it looses it
It says this device is health or something along them lines .......Paul

Took the drive out
Put it back in
It shows in Drive managment but locks the Lappy up
Cant change drive letter or anything ...................Paul

try another USB port and see if it makes a difference? if not try in another pc if possible and see if the same sort of thing happens

if you have tried other usb ports it may be best to delete the usbport drivers and let windows find them again or letting it reconfigure/download the drivers?
