made my own M.O.S.C. and it updated last month, this month it would not update, so put it my Elvis and unlocked the PBM, when it went back in my STB it updated within 20 secs but reset my PBM.
i thought it would update without unlocking the PBM, can any one shine some light on this????

Locking the PBM should not affect the updates m8, it could just be coincidence. My MOSC hasn't updated yet this month they can do it anytime over a 4-5 day period.

yeah cosmoss is right, last month my mosc went on the 9th this month was the 12th?

I think that locking the pbm and it having no effect on the AU is debatable. I have seldom known it to stop cards from updating in the past but nevertheless it has affected a few that I know of. Lets not forget how tempremental these cards can be. You can do everything perfectly correct by the book and in theory they should behave normally but how many of you have scratched your heads in the past and done them again and doubted yourself for it not running error free.

Speccy, when I** send out the signals to update your card, they are actually updating the OC/OD codes to make the card valid for another month. I believe new cards can have the PBM reset if it is not locked but the PBM only determines which channels you can watch, and is nothing to do with the OC/OD codes or the card being validated for another month.

I unsderstand what you are sying its just that I read somewhere some time ago when I was learning (cant remember where exactly-some tutor or other) that locking the pbm MAY affect the AU. Cant see it really as you clearly pointed out but this seems to stick in my mind for some reason or other.
