Not the first time its happened but been having issues with touch ID working on my iphone 6 plus. It started a few months back where it wouldn't recognise a finger being in contact with the sensor . Phone became really sluggish at the time of this happening. I had a screen issue with my phone and had the screen replaced under warranty along with a new touch ID sensor , well the issue started again on Saturday and after many reboots of my phone I got it back working today . The strange thing is when its gone down you cant even turn the touch Id setting back on it immediately fails. Im thinking there must be some sort of check made with apple servers on boot up of phone to verify touch ID along with your iTunes account and that's what has been failing , apple still have not admitted there is any issue with touch ID on ios 8.4.1
This is happening to lots of people , three of my work mates have all had the same issues over the weekend.
