toshiba satellite 1735 LAN

mates toshiba satellite 1735 notebook has a LAN but it wont recognise it.. it an old lappy he just wants to get the kids on the net...there is no hetwork adapter in the bios, no network adapter in the control panel-system... its running XP home ...anyone got any ideas??? cheers

Sorry to butt in but can someone tell me in this thread how to post a new thread? I am new.

Try updating BIOS if still available. Normally XP picks up drivers for old computers unless LAN is totally faulty on board.

might be worth installing any chipset drivers available on their support site.

If bios does not see it the you have hardware fault. Try resetting the bios and see if it works.

You need to update the motherboard driver first. You should then see the other onboard devices.
