today ambit200 add sigma1.06 Success

ok mines gone off again was working , but now i cant get no ip address. not even if i try right click, repair. any ideas?

it could be either, your ethernet cable or your nic card not working.

got it to work again started from fresh(the commands in telnet) used a different mac but after every setting i changed in sigma i updated in telnet.

telnet is hard to operate mate u need to run it a copuple of times and cut and paste into it after u boot the modem it does work, no1 in belfast can use that fix or derry, dunno bout anywere else, i get "<he" on a blank page in 192 ffs :(

Ive tried everything m8 to get into telnet, Im also getting nothing in hyperterminal. WHen I power on the modem the power light only comes on and the modem doesnt do its usual flickin of lights.

Can someone explain what you should be getting when you load the bin file and reboot the modem. Do you still get info in hyper? Does the power light only come on and nothing else? Im tryin to work out if Ive killed the modems ive loaded then image onto.

once you load sigma all you will get is the power light and the ready light. i cant get any info in hyper terminal but can in telnet

i dont get the ready light tho i dont have the coax connected. wat way do u work telnet ive tried o 192.168.100.10

Nope ive left it at 192.168.100.10 and in telnet i get :

192.168.100.1....Could not open connection to the host, failed to connect on port 23

ok lets start from the first step.

put ip setting back to dhcp, disable and re-enable network card

connect modem to pc just the ethernet and power

type in o 192.168.100.1 notice the o before the 192, thats the letter

now follow this guide http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=81220

to get back to the main directory in telnet it should be "cd \"

when your at the bit where you have to change your ds frewuency, after you do it use the update setting command in telnet, when you change your mac do the update setting command

then disconnect the modem (ethernet&power, count to ten and connect it back. connect coax, check in networks settings that theres a ip address

go to the 192. what ever it is page change the config to the 10mb one

again unplug modem and re-connect it

that should be it

yer in belfast arent u vintyd? its the new ntl fix, tho it cud be a possible fault, personally i dont think this fix works for us, i have done countless modems and now all they give is the ready light, some stay on, some flash but when i go to 192 all i get is "<he> we need a diff fix 4 over here i believe m8

No problem but Ive killed these modems then, I dont get anything in hyper anymore and cant telnet them :(

i still get a response in Ht like this

Lets try to clear up this info a bit....

The instructions given by qwea is correct. The only additions being, you may need to use the 'UpdateSettings' command after entering the downstream frequency. Some servers are *requiring* the modem to have a serial number. The current Sigma firmware for the Ambit 200's doesnt have a serial number in it. Enter one, something 24 digits long.

This wont work in Belfast (for the moment), NTL are test digital certificates in some areas on modems there. (Check the modem SN though, it may solve your prob if your logon server isnt using digital certs)

If you have successfully flashed your modem, the PWR light will come on as soon as there is power to the modem, the RDY light will go on during boot. No other lights will go on, this is normal. The Ambit LED's are wired to the CPU a bit differently from the SB5100.

Sometimes you will be assigned an IP of 192.168.100.11 from the modem. Remember the modem contains its own DHCP server, the modem itself is assigning you that IP, the problem is sometimes the actual public IP isnt being passed on to your comp. This doesnt mean its not working....it is. If you want to check, use the *modem itself* to ping a public IP (like a cable DNS server). You will see it will reply. Currently I've not found the solution to this issue, it appears to be random. I have three modems here that all do it on accasion.

If you cant get a connection to the modem and cant ping 192.168.100.1 (THE MODEM ALWAYS HAS THIS IP), check your setup, if the modem has been flashed correctly, the problem is your setup. Start be unplugging/disabling ALL other network devices on your computer. Failing everything else you try, plug a max adapter in and watch the modem (actually read whats going on though), you'll spot the problem if you look at it long enough.

Thats all for now.
