Development of the third Spider-Man movie is already underway, despite it still being months before the second goes on release.
According to Variety today, the film could be out as soon as 2006 but a release in 2007 is more likely.
"It is a big movie, and we would rather play it safe and talk about the 2007 at this point," said Marvel Studios chief executive Avi Arad.
In the second film - out in the UK on July 16 - Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) confronts a new enemy, the tentacled Otto Octavius.
The original movie raked in around £450 million at the box office worldwide
