The reason I havent been about lately ;)

I believe it is a permanent hack, it just needs to applied prior to doing any work on the drive, be it reading, writing or both. This is great news and what a weird way to open it up, with an audio track, you guys are geniuses.
 
Yeh it's permanent....The "temporary" bit is the unlocking of the drive...Like after you play the audio track it's unlocked...But if you power cycled the 360 it would be locked again...That's my understanding of it...
 
Thats correct, if you wanted - you can apply podgers anti passkey patch during the flashing process.

No, offence if you dont understand how this works fully, I wouldnt try it ;)

My thoughts exactly mate, I just don't get it, lol

I thought a cd drive just parsed audio data through the DAC, but it appears that much more goes on in the background.

It uploads code to ram, pausing it keeps the code in the RAM.

One you execute that code.......Well, need I say any more.
