Terrorists Apple iPhone Unlocked

To every action there is a reaction and a consequence. Once you undermine the protection of peoples basic human rights. It doesn't matter who it might be, you end up loosing that right as a people. If Apple give out information for one reason then that are obliged to give it out for every reason. Apple are correct in upholding the rights of the individual no matter whom that person might be.

If there is no doubt that person is a terrorist and their phone could unmask further terrorists and/or plots, then surely Apple's refusal to unlock the phone is tantamount to aiding and abetting?
I'm an iPhone user and applaud their privacy stand but not against terrorists or other circumstances that could lead to loss of life, which of course is far more precious than any privacy stance.

Difficult one though isn't it, Who decides that the person is a terrorist or warrants his/her phone unlocking? would the TRUMP administration be trusted - or china - or Russia to decide? I don't think apple could win even if they agreed to help. Would need some sort of proof to be accepted by all concerned.

This person gunned down three innocent people and injured eight other’s.
He was either a terrorist or had mental health issues. Either way I don’t understand why they would not unlock his phone.
I think there should be a clause in their privacy terms, if you commit murder or an accomplice to murder your phone will be unlocked.

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. In this case I believe Apple were completely correct in refusing, for a couple of reasons;

1. As soon as apple do it for the US, then it sets a precedent, and other countries will want the same treatment
2. It'll undermine encryption. There is a bill going through the US senate atm to try to weaken encryption so they can watch you even more.
3. The US already has PRISM, what more does it need ;)
4. There are firms that specialise in this, and offer this service, so there is no need to approach apple for assistance.
5. **** Trump!

I think the story of camera's say it all. It started off with a corner shop being robbed, so he installed surveillance camera's. Now you can't fart in the UK without someone somewhere watching you. Its for your own good they will say. I believe in my right of privacy! If in having that right someone like Trump or the UK government get a refusal from apple then so be it! You can not compromise just because someone is outside your realm of respectability. Its either all or its none. As you sit behind your VP-N's and look in horror when your provider turns over your account to the authorities. (Smiles Softly) Hypocrites!

I would think when you start killing people you should expect to be out of any decent person’s respectability and you should expect to lose some of your privacy and definitely your freedom imho. (serious face)

Its not really about people that have been adjudged. Its not even about one's individual rights. Its about where do you stop. I worked at a factory where camera's were permitted as long as they only pointed outwards and were never used for disciplinary purposes. I do not think it lasted six months before two people were sacked for having their wicked way at a Christmas party. They were caught on a secret camera. Just one of many that had by then been deployed throughout the factory. (It wasn't me by they way)(Grins). But the moral is; Once you open that door you have lost your rights. So as despicable as it may seem Apple were correct in what they did.
