As a 1st time (noobie) buyer of a sat receiver I bought a Technomate 1500CI following the reviews I had read in magazines and to the comments made by others in this forum.

The reciever gives me a great picture onscreen and the menu is easily navigated once you've read the manual ;) (several times, in my case!!)

What convinced me to purchase this reciever was the availability of 'patches' which allowed me to view additional channels that were availalbe. The ease of use of updating the firmware and the additional support provided by members here made it an easy 1st step into the 'sat world'.

Hey don't listen to me..............I'm biased !!!

BTW The Combo unit, uses an aerial for FREEVIEW reception (check with an engineer if you need to upgrade your aerial to a digital one beforehand), but does not have a CAM slot or a card reader, but is great value...........less than the 1500CI. You will also find 'patches' for it here on this site too!!

Here's the specs of the Technomate TM-4200 Combo
