Talkback not cut

Just getting bk from 1000 1b when i checked the tkbk was cut is was'nt?
The only thing i could see was a diode out side the can going from what looks like a 5v reg to the neg side of a cap. I know that this box has been modded as the attys have been lifted and it had a no update mod done.
Has anyone any idea what this is, i'm guessing it starves the tkbk chip of power, but is it not safer to just cut the track????

Does the talk back light stay on all the time or it flashing?

If its flashing then talk back as been cut.

Dont realy want to put it on stream to find out.
Am going to cut it anyway. Bit concerned about reg being shorted out though.
Dont know whether or not to remove it.

@j-lee Can you post any Pictures of the mods?

But as you say maybe best to cut the track.

not got camera but the reg is right next to the tuner can,,reg 101 & c121,, looked at other threads and it seems to be an old way of doing it but simplyfied as others talk about soldering resistors on uhderside of board and theres non of that. got ird and half of bk will finish it off and try it, see what happens.
