chad a 120 clone running a 2mb and a few weeks ago I couldn't connect and thought that it had updated firmware, I looked at 192... to check if logo was there and got page not found, i was busy so stuck it in cupboard. I pulled it out tonight and stuck it on hyperterminal only to find that it has not been updated and i can still change mac, although i cannot get into 192... as get the page not found crap.

here's text from hyper with coax attatched using a valid 2mb mac.

what makes you say that? as i said the I can change the mac no problem so there is nothing wrong with the cable, its the modem. As i said before i got up one day and the modem was not connecting and was getting the d/s synch and ready lights flashing from left to right in sequence and after mac change(with valid mac) it is still same so def NOT lead prob and DEF a modem prob.

Yep you sure can (with out a willam 2), boot press a key, then select image 1, when loading it will ask to hit another key if wanted, hit key then pick 6 for mis sub menu, then 10 to restore. Let me know how you get on, IT works a treat m8. Good old ambits their great fun. : gun :

tried that klast nite but didn't get the second hit any key option, does that work with the old firmware as well as the new one? as this one is still old fw

it sounds how my ambits were behaving, I found that if I plugged the modem in, waited for it to boot, then the second the ready light came on tried opening 192.168.~ i could display the page fine, If I left it any longer than 20 or so seconds I would just get 'page cannot be displayed'. Also, I could acces web pages in these first 20 seconds, then the modem would start scanning and I could not view pages or 192.168.~ , couldn't get a response even pinging the modem, neither of these modems had recieved the new firmware and I tried loads of macs on em, I got back online by taking a valid mac and changing the last to chars to one from another valid mac, this may sound far fetched but it worked, the other has now been used to hone my tsop removal/refitting skills for the modems that did get hit with the firmware update.

You can change it back m8 there seens to be to types of new firmware boot codes , if its 3.11.1 then your in luck, on the other hand if its 3.11.3 your fooked, (willam time).

definately DONT get second hit any key option mate heres cut and paste of my last try, I can change mac as often as i want but same probs, no connection(although it says at bottom mac enabled), smae flashing lights and page not found on 192..... Got me baffled.
Can you look at the 2 below lines i've marked at right hand side with ********** and tell me if that is anything to do with it please(magic number and usb mac)

aww man :( ive got two 100's sitting here gathering dust too, i know someone who might be able to lift the tsops and reflash them but i dont want to go to all that bother if when i put them back on the feed they will simply take the poxy update firmware again, i keep thinking sooner or later someone must come up with a fix as the 100's are still one of the main modems that ntl use.
