hi ppl, i want thank all those that replied back to me about my problem on formatting, so i've decided to go with win98cd only without floppy boot disk, i am told i could do it this way but i need to know how to change boot priorities in system bios to cd rom first and need to know how to save bios settings thanks

on alot of pc's the DEL key in the num-pad lets u get to ur bios so press this at boot up, then select advanced setting and use the + and - keys to change the setting to:
first boot device CD ROM
second boot device IDE 0
then press escape and then f10 and y to save settings

this will enable the boot from cd.

When the comp during the install says it has to reboot remember to take out the win98 cd or it will keep bootong the pc.

if your installing win98 format your drive and make sure its bootable (format c: /s)then from your cd copy the directory called WIN98 onto the hdd.
go into the win98 dir after you have copyed it and type setup .this way when you add or change a component in your system you dont have to keep putting in the cd.
dont forget to make a note of the serial no for when you set up windows.
saves a lot of time to cos your hdd is faster transfer rate than your cd drive.

When formmatting hdd be sure first that u save all escentialls. Power Quest Drive image pro is very good for this . Also Norton Ghost.Cant be too careful

Smartarse, if ur gonna suggest that u wanan tell him how to manually install the cd-rom drivers under dos so he can access the cd in the first place?????
