I seem to be having a bit of a problem with the sound on some channels at the mo. Most of the channels are pretty quiet compared to say the xbox when changing between the 2 at the same volume level, and I have to turn the volume pretty high on the tv to be able to hear.

Some channels are louder than others also especially the music channel starz tv.

any suggestions to what I could try to resolve this

Nope not yet. Before I try another image if I make a full img backup via telnet does this cover all bouquets , channel mapping etc I have done, so it will be exactly same when I reinstall ? If not what do I lose

Yes,
it covers everything exactly the way you left your image.

reflashing the image sometimes fixes problems that have no explanation.
i would recommend downloading jade pli 3 maxvar from the downloads section.
