I've had my VU+ Duo for about a month now, and I'm pleased with its performance.
I thought I'd pass on a few tips to other members.

1. USING DCC etc

In order to use Dreambox Control Center (for FTP and Telnet), you have to set a password for the box. The following help came from another forum:

Use FlashWizard Pro
insert your box IP address
Login as "root"
Password is blank
Do not allow FlasWizard to "add to Dreambox"
From the "Configuration and Utilities" section, select "Smart Telnet"
Once the black screen appears, type "passwd"
After the prompt appears, type in your preferred password
(which you won't see), then press enter.
You'll be prompted to enter the password again, press enter.
That's it, you'll now be able to use Dreambox Control Center, Dreambox
Edit, etc

2 INITIALISING (FORMATTING) and MOUNTING a HARD DRIVE

I had dreadful problems trying to do this, with DreamElite installed.
In the end, I installed the basic VU+ software, formatted and mounted from there, then re-installed DreamElite.

3 Installing software other than the basic VU+ Enigma

The first time you do this, it's probably best to use the "VU+ UTIL" program
with null modem serial cable and ethernet cable.
Use the "nfi" file.
Further updates can be done via USB.

4. INSTALLING SATELLITES AND CHANNELS

If you're using a motor, it's probably best to download "Settings" to your
box. I used the "Likra" settings from DreamElite

You have to go into the Tuner Configuration menu, and set up each
satellite that you intend to watch - specifying LNB, whether you're using
USALS (I don't) etc. If you're using Disecq, you have to input
the "position number" of the satellite. Press OK, and exit all the way back
out of the "Setup" menu.
I found that I had to physically switch the box off, and on again, in order
for each and every satellite position to be stored in memory.
Once you've done this, you can use "Satsearch" to find the satellite -
(Locked Signal", and Positioner menu to actually save it. I use the same
numbers for positions as in the Likra Settings.

That's enough to be going on with!
