Hi peeps,

I'm having a nightmare with my modem. It's got the locked firmware, so after an unsuccessful time wasting attempt with a max 232 cable, I have now built a max233 cable.

Finally I can get hyperterminal to stop the autoboot.

I then get the bootp message, so I search again, and find the full line to put in. Now I get a file error as below.

CPU: BCM3350
FLASH: Intel 28F160C3T
Version: 5.3.1
BSP version: 1.1/0
Creation date: Jan 13 2001, 16:37:13

SB4100

I have tried making the full dir structure, but further reading has saud that the fact taht fireball / boot.exe has the server running means that teh vxWorks.st in is the correct place, and being hosted.

Does anyone have any further ideas?

Thanks v much

JB

ok m8,from wot i see ur using a 4200 bootline and 4200 vx works.try again with the 4100.

Yeah, my mistake there, on that last try to get teh stuff to paste here, I had used the wrong line. I have just tried it again just to be certain, and its the exact same error with 4100 in the correct places. :(

Any ideas? Could my vxworks.st be corrupt?

most 4100s are easily unlocked by bitfile.just another option if u cant get fireball 2 do it.a full tut by gopher and all files needed are in the downloads.

i got hack i got hack i got hack :)

waldo, you are a star!!!!

Used teh vxworks that you posted, it works a treat, also used your full line, in case I had something different, and couldn't spot it.

Had to do it twice though, second time hack tab is present :)

Sweet, thanks very much

JB

Well it took some faffing about. I had to find another vxworks.st, I ended up using the one from the complete kit v8. After that I had to mess about with the version of the hackware firmware. But finally I got it to stay with the hack tab. Each previous time it would flash, then reboot, and copy image 1 back over image 2, and the hack tab would disapper. But what ever I did, it's there perm now.

I was getting the "Transfer Operational Parameters through TFTP" failing, so I changed from a dynamic config name which I got with my bunch of mac addresses, to the standard cm-20480-768 which is what my subbed one uses, and what I found whenI had sniffed my area - which incidently had normal and dynamic found. This cured that issue. Now I'm stuck at my current problem. I have tried various mac addresses, and config names. I found my own tftp server using dhcpforce connected to my subbed modem. I have also tried my own subbed mac with the subbed turned off. but still I get teh same error

Received REG-RSP Msg with authentication failure - Failed

It just keeps rebooting it's self now. As I say, I've even tried my subbed mac with no joy.

I have searched but can't find a result anywhere. I thought I was so close, now it feels like miles again. :(

HEEELLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!! Please :)

Cheers

JB
