Is your 9 pin lead connected?

You need an rs232 serial cable as well.

This programmer uses a Virtual comm port (VCP)
Make sure you set up the VCP to phoenix 3.68mhz and configuire Nagraedit to the same comm port.

yes programmer and nagraedit set to same comm port and in phoenix mode'

do I still need the rs232 lead instead of the usb lead I got with the programmer.

yes m8 as fatblerk says the serial is needed for the phoenix side of the proggy...

on my programmer I have only one socket which takes a usb b plug
the rs 232 cable is usb to serial cable so won't fit my programmer.

Try a repair with MROM, you might need to use XNCS to obtain your keys afterwards

Load xncs then goto options>settings and check everything except ghost must be in eeprom then dump the card ....... your BD keys 0 to 3 should be in lines C040 to C070 respectively.
You should then armed with these keys be able to dump the card in nagraedit

gee i'm glad you guys are here , my brain is hurting now.
tryed mrom repair still same in nagraedit is there a english version of mrom.
in xncs it says no atr sent.

Are you still getting the ATR string when you reset/attempt to open the card with Nagraedit?

just tried again with nagraedit and i get as follows

Opening of COM1 was successful
ATR String: 3F FF 95 00 FF 91 81 71 A0 47 00 44 4E 41 53 50

Hi m8"!

When you get a SetIFS Failed It means it doesnt know the size of the dataspace

SetIFS is the blocksize maximum packet size that the card sends responses back to Nagra Edit, etc

The Default is fairly low, so nagraedit issues a command to increase the IFS. That way it can read or write all the data in the card ((64 bytes)) . The problem you are experiencing is due to the card not responding correctly to the command to increase the IFS. It could be due to communication errors on your serial port, power supply, or something in the card (Data Corrupted).. Try increasing the retry count in Nagra Edit ((Preferences)) and see if it can get through it..
If increasing the retry doesn't work.. lower the FIFO buffers of the COM Port as low as you can (windows setting)(last resort). If that doesn't work... try the same card on a different reader/writer or computer.
I used to get quite a few SetIFS fails but since i changed programmer i have had no problems at all

BTW: It’s my opinion that rom cards including software like Nagraedit don’t Like USB connections
But then again it's only a opinion"!!!!

thanks for the time you have taken for all your replies still no further on..

Hi slonger
