Hi, I have a HP Desktop Pc it states at the front that it has 256 ddr ram so i'm thinking about buying some ram of ebay iv'e found 2CORSAIR 1GB PC3200 DDR400 DDR MEMORY RAM 1 GB HP DELL" on ebay, i was just wondering if it will work so that i'll have a 1gb stick and the default 256 ram aswell, Thanks

I would open the pc up m8 and check too see how many slots you have and what actual stick you have in there so u know you're getting the right stick

like Zoo said mate open ur hp dt up , not hard to do and check the ram u already have , as ram can be a bit funny as the pc might not like it u should have @ least to slots on those machines , as i have 1 for the kids p4 hp desktop with a gig in no probs

run the scanner at crucial.co.uk and it'll tell you what type you can use and max capacity as well

Thanks for replys, i have 256mb DDR PC2700 Cl2.5 in the pc already, so what ram should i be looking to buy? cheers

what is the full model number of the pc ?

ill log onto hp site and get the spec from the partner site, or check my manuals if its more than a year old

dont buy samsung ramm ive already made that mistake cheap proper pony crap shiiiite not worth a penny cheap and nasty mostly low dense faulty sticks

kingsdon and crucial you cant fail

Agreed. Try ebuyer to get a good price. Bought is from here for my last desktop. Be careful as sometimes you need to install RAM in predefined multiples on certain motherboards (well that was the case on my previous Dell),

some info for u

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00043411.pdf

looks like u have 2 slots only, i suspect when u open machine u will find 2 x 128 sticks, as said u will probably have to buy 2 x sticks the same many chipsets aranged this way interleaved memory.

dont know what u have found price wise but these people sell hp branded memory (ie its the right part no)

http://www.offtek.co.uk/product.php?manuname=HP/Compaq&maincat=1&subcat=2&model=Pavilion+A309.uk

512M = £20 and 1G = £30 it might be a sheckle or two more than other places but u will get the right stuff first time :)
