Hi,

Been searching online for a new computer but ive decided to have ago at actually building one. Having looked at videos online it looks pretty straight forward.. The only difficult bit i'm finding is the parts list.

I will be using the PC for mostly videos, Autocad/photoshop and MS Office. I've set aside £800 for the whole build exluding monitor cost.

Below is a list of parts I'm thinking of buying, please let me know if they are good choices in terms of costs and reliability and any alternative parts I should go for to save on costs.
Also I would Like to add some lighing to the case, How can I go about this?

Currently the list below is comming in at just under £1000:Mad2: so i need to Value engineer some bits out to bring it inline with my budget of £800 , any suggestions?

In addition what website/store would you recommend me buying my parts.

Case - Seems good for the price, though I'm not a fan of doors on cases. I will say the plastic quality that Corsair use on their cases is not designed for LAN party use (i.e. regular moving).

Mobo - Any particular reason for that motherboard? (There are cheaper ones with the same chipset.)

CPU - As you've not gone for the K version; have a look at the i5 6500. It's ~£20 cheaper than the 6600 you've picked out, and the 0.1Ghz difference in the clock speed will be negligible in games.

RAM - If you need 16GB there are cheaper options; both in 2x8GB and 4x4GB kits. In fact take a look at the HyperX Fury 16GB(2x8GB) 2400MHz DDR4 CL15 DIMM Black Memory Kit - Ebuyer a couple of quid cheaper and it has slightly faster timings (supposedly more important than frequency on DDR4)

Cooler - If you buy a CPU that's labelled as "retail boxed", it'll come with the OEM cooler. That is to say, you can buy the water cooler at a later date, and save £70 now.

PSU - No complaints. Other manufactures to look at are Seasonic, XFX, Be Quiet, and Thermaltake.

SSD - I've never had an OCZ SSD, and the launch reviews for the 150 line seem lacklustre. That said it's £5 cheaper at Amazon, and it''' be worth reading the user reviews given it's 4.5 star rating there: OCZ Toshiba Trion 150 Series 2.5-Inch 120 GB SATA 15nm Triple Level Cell Solid State Drive: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

GPU - What monitor/resolution are you playing on/at? The ~£200 AMD RX 480 or GTX 1060 cards might be worth a look. (Though, bare in mind that they are "only" 4GB and 3GB GDDR respectively).

HDD - I can't see a similar spec (2TB, 7200RPM, 64MB cache) for a better price. Be advised that if you tend to play games with something running in the background (e.g. music, downloads, game capture etc), then I'd strongly recommend two physically separate drives; one for games and one for general storage.
