programming chips with elvis.(help please)

Hi folks<br />can anyone tell me where to position 12c508a chip on the elvis programmer.i have been told that pin 1 on the chip goes to pin 1 on the socket,but which pin is No.1 on the socket.please help. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
