COULD ANYONE HELP ME TO PROGRAM THE 12C508A CHIP USING A ELVIS PROGRAMMER V3.5 IN WINDOWS XP?
WHAT SOFTWARE DO I USE AND DO I NEED A BOOT DISC?
I HAVE THE HEX FILE THAT IS REQUIRED AND THE SOFTWARE THAT WAS INCLUDED WITH THE PROGRAMMER BUT ALL I KEEP GETTING IS AN ERROR WHEN TRYING TO LOAD UP THE HEX FILE IN MP6 SOFTWARE.
THANKS IN ADVANCE...

andy
follow this m8
1) Start MP6, put your blank card in the programmer and hit 'auto detect' (WARNING: auto detect erases all data on card)
2) Eventually, you should see listed '1PIC+EEPROM' and under that 'PIC16F84' and '24C16'
3) Click on '24C16' and hit 'open'. Browse to the location of your Hex files and double click the one that says eep somewhere in the filename.
You have now assigned that file to that chip. It's file name and location are now stated next to the name of the chip.
4) Click on'PIC16F84' and hit 'open'. Browse to the location of your Hex Files and double click the one with 'pic' somewhere in the filename.
You have now assigned that file to that chip. It's file name and location are now stated next to the name of the chip.
5) Click on '1PIC+EEPROM' and the 'program' button should be lit.in the top right hand side at the top in the toolbar Click it.
The software now programs the two files into the two chips and shows various progress meters on screen. When everything stops, your card is programmed.
thanks to damage for the above
spiky

Spiky I think Andy's trying to program a pic chip 12c508a not a goldie.
Andy I've already posted some help don't know whats happened to it,so I'll try again.
First off m8 and no offence but using capitals on your post is classed as shouting.
Now if you connect up your Elvis and open your Mp6,"Iuse Mp7 myself" I hope it's the same.
1) Click on" Add new project.
2)Once you are in "Select device" box, double click on the"Micro chip" tab.
3)You will see a list of devices appear.
4)Double click on pic of your choice212C508 in your case.
5)This will revert you back to the opening box but with the 12c508 illuminated in blue.
6)Show it the way to your Hex file,by using the "Open" box.
7)Click on the "Program" button and that should be it.
Cheers for now.
