problem playing DVD's

One of my friends is having problems with her acoustic solutions DVD 521 player.

It plays CDRs with no problem but it has stopped accepting any original DVD's.
When the DVD disk is put in the drawer the drive makes a grinding noise and eventually brings up the message "no disk".

Apparently this started to happen after she tried to play a divx disk on the machine and accessed a new menu. Wish she had asked first, i would have told her it would not work.

Does anybody know what is wrong with the machine and how to rectify it?

Is there any way of setting this machine back to the factory settings or updating the firmware?

This hack should work on the Acoustic Solutions DVD-521 player.
To make this player multi-Region or select a specific Region:
1.Press the Setup button on the Remote Control
2.Press Next
3.Press Pause/Setup
4.Press Prev
5.Press Next
6.You should now be in a secret menu where you can change Region 1-6, or All for Region free


try this see if it will put it back to normal

She has tried it but with no luck unfortunately.
She had previously used this hack to allow R1 disks to be played.

have a look HERE i know its not the same machine but there might be a menu some were what she has changed what might be the reason why it wont work.

Unfortunately no luck so far.

She is now considering getting a new player especially as there is now one that can play divx.
